This was a lot of metal work. The step comes pretty much ready to install, but a 1.5" hole needs to be located and drilled into the fuselage and the floor ribs need to have either arcs or holes drilled into them. The far end of the step in the fuselage has a phenolic block that bolts to the 3rd rib inboard.
The step itself doesn't fit the contour of the fuselage on the lower left at all. I could have just cut off the corner and lived with the gap. Instead, I heated the steel and contoured it to fit the fuselage. I also countersunk the holes in the mount plate so that I could use flush rivets instead of the round head ones provided in the kit.
I'm going to powder coat the steps. When I finish the other side and am ready to mount them, I'll post some more pics.
