After a fair amount of worrying about making the 6 degree bends on 710 and 714, I made them today. Pretty simple--too much worrying about it. I set up a pair of wooden blocks in my bench vise (one with a 1/8R radius) and clamped the parts. The bends were very easy to make by hand using a cardboard gauge to determine angle.
I did manage to make my first real blunder today on HS-702. I caught the unibit on the spar flange while enlarging the hole while trying to enlarge it from the inside of the spar. I really trashed the flange. Called Van's and ordered a replacement.
Trimmed HS-404s per plans. Fluted and prepped the ribs.
(Update note: It would be a lot easier to trim the aft flange on HS404 when you are getting ready to install it later. Then it's just a matter of making cut marks when it's lined up against HS710 and 714. I read this on someone else's site, but didn't understand it. Now I do).
