Brief Description:  Spar nutplates & tiedown prep

The final bit of countersinking for now is to attach two nutplates to the inner portion of each spar as part of the (eventual) attachment of wings to fuselage. So a quick c/sink of 8 holes, and it was time to squeeeze the rivets to attach the nutplates. It was awkward to do that with only two hands, so I broke out the flush head set for the rivet gun and that was as easy as anything.

There was also a row of the tank attach nutplate screw hole countersinks that I hadn't got round to corrowoin protecting with Alodine, but that was soon fixed.

Then onto preparing the tie downs that provide somewhere for two forged rings that end up under the wings to stop the aircraft blowing away f it ever has to be parked outside in a gale on some of the loing trips I plan to do in her. :-) The first part was to fabricate 4 soacers, and this is done from a supplied stock aluminium bar; the first thing to be done is to remove some lightening material, and this required use of a 1" hole saw I'd recently bought. Required a fair amount of Boelube and the bar got pretty hot, but now there are 4 neat 1" holes and the next job is to saw them into 2" lengths. The bandsaw is playing up at the moment and won't cut straight - so that will need fixing first. Maybe I'll treat it to a new blade at the same time.
