UK homebuilders are managed and overseen by the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) on behalf of the Regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The LAA has a network of Inspectors who act as mentors as well as keeping us all honest and ensuring an airworthy product at the end of it all.
My LAA Inspector, Charlie, came for his first visit today to check that my build premises are acceptable and practical, and (I'm sure) to satisfy himself that I have a sensible and realistic attitude to the build challenge. I /think/ I fooled him on that score...
