Brief Description:  Left elevator - less than perfect

As shown in the last log entry, the aft part of the skin bend on the left elevator was sloightly misaligned, so I refirtted it into the wooden bending jig for another go.

Unfortunately, part of the wood had a flaw in it, and unknown to me broke off under the action of the rivet gun!

Depressingly, this allowed the skin to be pushed in by the surface of the workbench under the action of teh rivet gun, resulting in the crease that you see here.

I have a few options at this stage:

1. Live with it.
2. Fill the crease when the aircraft is finshed, and paint over it.
3. Remove the bent metal, and replace with a fabricated "riblet" instead. This would allow access to teh skin with a hand seamer to flatten out the crease, which I am unable to currently do.

For the moment, I have chosen to go with option 2, but await the view of my inspector when he comes to look at it.

I may well eventually decide to go with option 3 anyway, whihc is something I can do in slower time. It's a particular shame that the skin was inverted on the workbence for access when teh problem ocurred, because that means the crease is on the upper surface and therefore will be obvious on the finished aircraft for ever more...
