Brief Description:  Double flush riveted Rudder TE

I'm happy to admit that I was nervous about this bit.

On the page, it's straightforward enough: back rivet the 48 flush head rivets of the rudder trailing edge, and then finish off by flipping the rudder over and using a mushroom head rivet gun to complete the process and fully set the rivets.

However, the plans make it clear that it is easy to induce a curl in the TE if you're not careful, and that you should therefore take your time. Don't start at one end and dumbly work your way to the other, but rather partially set rivets along the length of the rudder, and at every stage check the trailing edge for curl. Then carefully complete the rivet setting, continuing to check.

So, I took my time. Doing them all at once, mindlessly, would probably have taken about 10-15 minutes.

I took it slowly, over about two and a half hours and... Look!

That third photo below makes it all worth while - it's as straight as I could have wished.

Happy :-)

Looks straight to me. Does it look straight to you? :-)
