Brief Description:  Rivet rudder skin to structure

With the upper skins in place, today it was time to permanently attach the rudder skins to the skeleton (apart from the trailing edge, of which more later).

Again, the pneumatic squeezer made light work of this for the vast majority of the rivets. There were only a couple of occasions when the squeezer yokes I have couldn't fit.

This was only for the forward rivet on each side for the lower rib, where even the longeron yoke wouldn't properly reach within the horn brace, and (as described yesterday) the aftmost rivets on both sides of the upper rib.

I have used pop rivets on the lower rib problem, but I am still chewing over the upper rib, as it seems to early to admit defeat yet!

I can either search for a thinner bucking bar, use modified mole grips to squeeze them (as others have done) or drill out the holes to 7/64" and use the alternative pop rivets allowed for in the plans.
