Brief Description:  Back in the saddle - Continuing with the rudder

Welcome back, Sports Fans!

Well, that was something of a hiatus, caused by work-related higher priority stuff and then by the need to look after a family invalid - thankfully short term.

So, back to the rudder. After having countersunk the rudder trailing edge wedge, it was time to dimple the trailing edges of the rudder skins to fit into that countersinking, and the relevant parts of the rudder spar, ribs and other parts.

Also, a further check that all parts had been correctly deburred etc was made, to ensure that nothing had slipped through the cracks during the lay-off.

Then, cleco the entire assembly together to recheck fit, and that nothing had been missed (it had, but only a minor bit of skin on each side that needed filing to fit, and dimpling the lower edge of the skin to attach to the lower rib).

Finally, disassemble, and prepare for priming.

One last construction item that hasn't yet been done is to prepare to attach the rudder counterbalance weight - a honking 0.8kg piece of lead. That's because it is attached with #10 screws, and I've just realised I don't have a #10 drill bit. Doh. Gloster Air Parts will provide, I'm sure - I'll call them tomorrow.
