Brief Description:  Completed Vertical Stabiliser

A significant milestone today:

THE FIRST COMPONENT ESSENTIALLY COMPLETE!

The skin is now fully riveted onto the VS skeleton. I cannot permanently attach the rear spar until Charlie, my inspector, has signed off the assembly. For that he will need to inspect the quality of the internal skin and skeleton rivet shop heads. However, with the excellent pneumatic squeezer (a tool I already love above all others - probably), that will only take me a few minutes.

So, I claim "complete". A good day.

Although I won't fibreglass on the fin cap until I am ready to do all the fibreglassing in one go, I couldn't resist placing it on top of the VS to see the full height of the structure. Almost looks like an aircraft part, doesn't it?

Now to go back and complete the horizontal stabiliser, after which it is rudder, elevator and trim-tab time. I wonder if I can get that lot done before May 13 ("Wing Day")?
