Brief Description:  Instrument Pod Support

Spent quite a bit of time studying C-GOEZ (I do not know the authors name) website. There is a lot of good information there. I have decided not to have a center console in the ship as I want to keep the floor as clean as possible.

With this in mind I decided to bulid the pedestal. Since I have a machine shop I decided that a tube support with a collar at the top and bottom might look good. Image 1 shows the bottom collar being turned on the lathe.

Had a problem cutting the finished piece off of the raw stock in the lathe. For those in the know plunging a cut off tool through 4" of metal is always interesting. Finally decided to just use the cut off band saw. I got about half way through it when the blade broke. Sigh. I fortunately had another and installed it. Now the motor won't work. Looks like it needs to go to the motor shop. Took it out to my 20" band saw and cut it off on it.

After that I installed it on the Instrument Pod. It looked like crap. Too small and just weird. Had to quit for the day.
