Brief Description:  Install Eyeball firewall penetrations

Decided not to play golf or go to the Wichita Air Festival (big weekend). Thought I would push hard on getting the wiring finished. I installed three (of maybe 9) eyeball penetrations. Started at the top and because I moved the electronics board several of the wires were too short. Got that done and you can see it in Photo 3.

Did the battery cable next because it was easy. Photo 1 shows drilling out the eyeball so that it is a tight fit on the cable to provide strain relief. You can see the finished product in Photo 2.

The biggest PITA was the original hole that had Mags, Oil Pressure, Alternator, Carb temp and the other Oil Pressure sender. I had to take the mag connections apart in order for them to fit through the eyeball nuts. Naturally I put the wrong end of the fitting through the hole and did not discover this until I after rehooking up the mags and every thing else. Take it all apart and try again.

Finally got it but there is something strange about my three wires that go up to the Oil Pressure at the top of the engine. Will need to run some continuity checks to confirm the hook up. Tomorrow.

Eight hours is enough. Glad I don't do this for a living. For those who are counting I went over 300 hours of construction time today.
