Brief Description:  Sheet Metal and Engine Lift Fixture

It is hot we got knocked out in the second round of the Summer Long 4-Ball Tournament so it is time to get back to the helicopter. I really wanted to get the engine installed in the ship this weekend, but it was not to be.

No major problems with the sheet metal except that my spark plug wire grommets did not arrive.

I removed all of the sheet metal except for the bottom and one side in order to slide the lifting fixture on. OOPS not even close to fitting. Remember the little sheet metal piece that I had to modify in the last entry? Turns out the nose on this engine (O-360) is much larger than on the engine the factory uses (O-320?) and it does not fit. The prints call for using a 6" channel.

The inside needs to be almost 6" for my engine. Photo 2 shows where I have removed most of teh webbing from the inside of the fixture. Compare the left and right side. This was an awful job because the arm was unsupported and it vibrated. Nasty business.

I eyeballed the removal and tried it. No luck it need much more removed. Mad, tired and having dinner with friends so I quit.
