Brief Description: Finish Intake Manifold and Valve Covers
Had some welding to do today. My valve cover nipples fit very well and welded perfectly.
I have been expecting new intake runner tubing to show up for over a week, but have been too busy to follow up and find out where it is. I decided to just redo what I had. It worked out fine but the hose has to cover up about 3/8" gap instead of the 1/16" that I had originally.
The welding started out poorly. I stopped by the welding store and bought some 4130 rod, big mistake. I knew that most 4130 is not welded with 4130 rod. I was too lazy to check my reference books so I just bought it. It does not make a clean weld. Looks like crystals and debris in the weld. I ground it out and used a 7012 MS rod. This one flowed just fine.
I still had to fix the holes from the MIG welder. Unfortunately all of the blow holes are on the side you can see, so some of the fixes are a little untidy.
