Brief Description:  Adjust Intake and Add Oil Drains to Valve Covers

In Photo 1 you can see where I bent the Intake back to the proper position, also notice now that the intake runners are not positioned right. I will cut these off and remake them.

I have procrastinated on the valve cover drains because I could not figure out how to make the holes for the tubes concentric. A little bit of serious thought later and I figured it out. Photo 2 is simply squaring up the ends in the lathe, after cutting to length.

Photo 3 is the money picture. I drilled the hole in the top valve cover. Be sure to drill it away from the rocker arm supports. This will be a 3/8" hole a Unidrill is the best tool for this. Then I welded the tube in place. No need for filler rod if you insert the tube a little proud of the inside surface. You don't want a big weld bead as it will cause you to have an oil level in the valve cover.

Next I went back to the lathe and turned a piece of steel to loose fit in the tubing. I then turned a sharp point on it. I screwed the valve cover into place with the "pin" inside. Then I simple raised the pin and let it fall. It eventually made a nice mark on the lower cover.

I drilled this mark out to 1/2", welded in the larger pipe and viola a perfect fit.
