Brief Description:  Cyclic Wiring and Grip Install

Wow that was a pain in the ass. I sure hope the wires are long enough;-)

Turns out that if you go to the Infinity website there are installation instructions. You need to cut a 1/2" wide slot about 1.25" long in the top of the cyclic. 180 degrees from there you will need a 29/64" hole. These allow the stick to slide up in the grip about 2.25" and get clamped.

I drilled a 1/2" hole at the 1.25" point then used a cutoff wheel in my grinder to cut the slots. Yes I got rid of the burrs. I left the wires in place while I did this. It would have been a monumental PITA to pull them back out and reinstall. All went well.

The grip has to come apart to do this job. There are a lot of wires and switches inside that are not held firmly in place. You need about 4 hands to get it back together.

The canon plug is really nice but had a pretty big learning curve. Lots of parts, no instructions and if you put a terminal in the wrong hole, good luck getting it out.

I wound up having to redo the ground wires. Those of you who are awake will notice that in yesterday's picture there are 11 terminals. Unfortunately I only have room for 10. This means that all 6 (or 7 I lose count) ground wires have to be soldered into one. Not only that but the connection of all those wires needs to be about 1" from the end of the terminal. If it is less than that the terminal will not go all the way to the bottom of the plug. Ask me how I know.

One down one to go.
