Brief Description:  Spec Out Avionics

Actually I spent most of Friday working on the Main Trans with a couple of hours working on the blades. Saturday was basically the same schedule.

Sean and I spent quite a bit of time talking about the avionics. I am going with the MGL Avionics www.mglavionics.com Odessy EFIS this is a 10" screen that does everything. Don't know how else to put it.

For the mags I bought the engine from Lycoming without Mags and will use the PMags

I am setting the ship up for a governor (either Robinson or Prototype Safari)

Circuit Breakers will be handled by the Vertical Power VP-X electronic circuit breaker. There will be no mechanical circuit breakers on the ship (I think). The only mechanical switch will be the Master. This is due to the capabilities of the MGL, VP-X and a programable I/O board. We will have to see if it works. We even figured out a way to to a mag check on the PMags with out a mechanical switch.

My frame was not in from Canada so we had to make location assignments based on other ships that were there.

One of the side benefits of going to the factory was being able to fly with Bobby everyday. It does not take much to get him out of the shop an into the air. I have no helicopter time so the first day was a little humbling. By the second day I could take off, land and take off all in the same helicopter. I could hover if you consider a fast walk with your eyes closed "hovering"

We also discussed the order of doing things once the ship arrived. I think I have a better idea now what to expect. Hope to see the ship by the second week of November.
