The first thing any builder should do is to review the plans sheets and builder manual for the parts being worked on. I did not do that with my left elevator. A Senior moment. At any rate, I cut the trim tab away from the elevator. Not a good thing to do. It makes everything that much more difficult to keep straight & level with no twist.
I worked very carefully over 3 days amd took my good old time. I did not want to end up having to buy another elevator. As you can see in the following pictures, I was able to get the trim tab and ribs cut and fit per the plans. The task is not difficult if you follow the manual!!!
I have not installed the trim tab control horn or clip yet. That will not take long and then it is on to attaching the elevator hinge. Waiting on my 1/16 inch bar stock to show up before I can install the hinge.
