Brief Description:  Left door, almost complete

Continued on left door. Worked on figuring out why the pins were too long. Finally decided they just were and calculated how much to remove from each pin. 1 5/8" seemed to be a good number. Cut down pins at the connection end since the ends were JB welded in place. Made new connection cuts and assembled. Now they are the right length.

Mounted both guides after bending front pin slightly to match door. Assembled and everything worked well. Cut the other two Vans pins to the same length because I need a set to with a centerline point to locate the holes in the fues for the pins. Assembled complete system with locator pins and rehinged the door. Each locator pin has to be the same length to do both ends at once, so I did the rear (placed a dab of clay on the door frame so the point would leave a good mark), drilled rear, then did the same on the front.

Started figuring out the lock. Cut a place in front of the Vans handle assembly to mount the lock between the straight gears. Started drilling hole, which has flat sides to keep the lock from turning. Since the lock mounts on the junction between the top and bottom skins, had to fill it with flox to get a level surface.

While the flox was there, set the Plane Around guides that go on the fues in flox to get the best fit

It will be 4 days on this one door. Bet I can do the other one in 4 hours. Anyone got a door latch they need built??.
