Brief Description:  Panel layout

Spent about 2 hours with two ATP pilots going over the panel layout. There was not much to discuss on the Skyviews or radios. Most of the discussion was on the IFR portion of the ship and on the switch arrangements.

Mostly decided that the basic panel would remain as I laid it out, but we realized that there was space below the 7" Dynon screen for a Garmin 400 series type WAAS type system. Would require adding a Dynon ARNCAV device and about 6K new for the approach system. This would be later.

Switches were interesting. After discussion, I have mostly decided on switches on the left to be required for flight, Master, AV. Master, fuel pump, iginition, trim, ap servos, strobe etc. These would be all in the "ON" poisition when taking the runway for any flight. Anything else, such as alternate bus, alt. air, lights, etc would be on the right side of the panel.

On the vital bus would be one radio, trim, Lightspeed ignition and transponder. With the P.S. PAR100EX the COM 1 is useable even with the audio pane unpowered. The Dynon screens are battery backed for an hour (which includes the GPS) so you could fly, navigate and communicate. RV10s use a lot of trim to land.

The throttle quadrent would include flap, throttle, prop and mixture just like my -6A, only placed closer together than on the -10 provided bracket. The bracket would be reversed to move the controls away from the face of the panel by about an inch.

Another IFR pilot who flys his RV-10 all over the place during the winter IFR conditions is comming tomorrow to look at it. Should have it settled after that. This was time very well spent!

No physical progress except to say that I ordered some parts from Vans on Thursday night and got a call from them at about 11 A.M Friday because I had messed up one digit on my credit card. The package was on my front porch at 9:30 A.M. Saturday. Now that is service!!! USPS is really giving UPS a run for its money.
