Brief Description:  Longerons!

The RV-6 had two longerons to be bent. As I recall it was a long job to get them right. The -10 has 4 and the length of the bends are much longer than the -6. Very frustrating. You clamp the angle in a vice, bend in the curve bypreloading it and then stike it near the vice with a heavy rubber mallet. Move it 2 to 4" depending on the amount of curve required and do it again.

The angle curves mostly the way you want, but also slightly in the other direction. You then remove that curve (I rub it on the edge of a table while putting a lot of force on it. This reduces the curve in the correct direction. You learn to overbend, slightly, in the right direction and then straighten. When close, you concentrate on matching one end of the curve template and slowly advance to the other end. Somehow the part that was right always changes, so it takes a large number of iterations to get it right.

Got all four done to within 1/16 and drilled the holes in the template into the angles. Put them on the fues just for looks.
