Great, long session on this holiday weekend. The ship is really growing three-dimensionally at this point. Most work surrounded the top and bottom connections to what is referred to as the Pylon. Its basically the fuselage structure around the back seat, and that holds the top of the ship [and engine] to the bottom. Its really just a series of triangular structures - which should be good and strong.
In order to assemble the bottom longerons I was forced to pull the structue off of the saw horses that have served as its base to date. In order to do that without damagint the main gear rims, I chose to install the tires. some confusion between the parts provided and the instructions at the BlackMax website about whether my tires are tubed or tubeless. In the end - tubed. As always, awesome timely support from AM to my emailed questions. They really understand that the weekend hours are precious to builders, and work hard to provide quick turnaround that keeps us moving forward. Exciting to have the plane sitting on those big, bad-ass tundra tires! I also configured a little dolly with a post to protect the rear of the plane until I reach the point of tailwheel installation.
