Brief Description:  Finished Vert Stabilizer

Picked up where I left off yesterday, with final shrinking and tapes on the Vertical Stabilizer. It's okay, but a little bit gummier than I would like because I rushed the final shrink on the tapes. In a perfect world, I would have let it dry overnight. I will definitely need to do some clean-up of that - and all my control surfaces - before painting. John, at AM, say's not to worry, that some gumminess is to be expected with the Superflite system. A small price to pay for avoiding the harsh chemicals.

Also invested some time building a simple jig to prodect the top of plan and flaperon deployment mechanism for when I flip the plane over in the next step to begin covering the bottom of the fuselage.

ALSO, was able to put to rest a nagging concern I have had for many months. Though I followed the instructions for assembly of the rear of the fuselage, it looks like there might not be adequate clearance for the wing struts that emmanate from the bottom of that position. Pulled down the strut material and read-ahead in the manual a few times, but still couldn't figure out how to confirm. Finally, I just cut a 2x4 wooden template to fit into the asociated fitting and check the clearance. Looks okay, with maybe a half-inch to spare. This is important, because I really don't want to start covering the fuse if I'm just going to have to tear it apart and replace a bunch of parts due to mis-aligned assembly. Based on this test, however, I will move forward. FIngers-crossed.
