Brief Description: Covering Elevator + Engine Mount
Great session today. Spring is starting to happen, and it was a treat to have the door open and roll the plane our into the drivaway to bey som ecovering space in the shop. Main goal today was to begin the covering process for the elevator. An issue with the pre-cut pattern that came with the kit, but instead of waiting for a replacement I just chose to cut my own from the roll of fabric I had left from the supplies purchased from Wicks for my covering process test a few weeks ago. This is the largest piece I have yet covered, and it seemed to go pretty well. Still kind of bafffled about how I will be able to scale this process up to the size of the wings... Cross that bridge when I come to it.
Exciting event this week, as I purchased my Rotax 912 from South Mississippi Light Aircraft! Should arrive during the next two weeks. I'm not really ready for it yet, but the price as right and I didn't want to miss it. Coincidentally, I was able to finish the engine mount assembly today during drying breaks in my Elevator work. Its ridiculously dinky. I can't imagine that a thing so tiny will be able to push this machine through the sky. We'll see...
