Brief Description:  Landing Gear; Axles

Got a quick start on Step 3 since I had previously reviewed the instructions and diagram. had everythinglaid out in the shop and read to go. Two major components: installing fittings for pivoting bungee suspension, and installing the axles themselves. With some help from the reamer, the fittings went on lickety-split. The axles are a different story. These step-down form a fat steel tube to a 3/8" axle by nesting ever-smaller diametertubes inside one another, Russian doll style. This is no doubt a strong solution, but getting the tubes to slot inside one-another was frustrating. Advertised as 'some coaxing', I ended up waling away on them with a sledge. At this point, I have the interior tubes mated, and now need to mate those inside the actual pivoting axle. Due to its bent shape, waling with a sledge wont be an option. So, I'm trying to take it easy and sand them down until they slot comfortably inside. If they get stuck, I'm hosed. Once that is complete, I need to drill, ream, and bolt in order to connect the axle assembly to its pivot point.
