Brief Description:  Trim and Flap indicators

Worked and finally got the trim position indicator working. I finally figured a way to get the 4-40 threaded rod and model airplane parts to play nicely and now I get good indication of up down center. Approx 1 hour was spent getting the sensor all hooked up, and then close to another hour was spent troubleshooting why it didn't work. It turns out that one of the pins in connector #3 had slid out. The barbed piece was missing so it just slid in and out...had to replace the whole pin (STS). Dang system works great now. I then reinstalled the fiberglass fairing over the trim mech.

I then moved on to the flap motor. When I talked to Jim at Rec Mobility this morning he told me the flap arm doesn't bind on the square tube at all. He said the flap actuator should be 5" above the center of the bolt hole that secures the lower end of the swept aft square tube...mine was closer to 10"!!!!! I moved it, finally figured out where to drill the hole for the sensor, drilled it, and then promptly snapped my tap off in the damn hole. I can't figure out how to get the tap out of there...and I've chewed up the arm a touch trying. The 'chewing up' isn't structural at all, it's just stripped some of the powder coating. I am thinking of ordering a new arm just to improve the asthetics and so I don't have to fart with the broken tap. I'll ask Norm for help first, then order a spare part. Worst case I can always change that fairly easily later.
