Brief Description:  Instrument Panel Fabrication

Just when you thought the woodworking was finished, along comes another form block! Actually, I have three more after this one - the fuselage bulkheads. A while back I had cut out pieces of MDF big enough to serve as form block material. I finally got around to needing the panel, so it was time to bite the bullet and fabricate it. I used the identical process used to make the wig ribs. I went slowly with the forming because I figure I'll be looking at the panel a lot over the next few years, so I wanted it to be right. It turned out very nicely. My plan is to use this as the basic panel framework and use additional pieces of .032 bolted to it to mount my instruments. That way I'll be able to remove the smaller panels for access, and the .032 will stiffen things up a bit.
