Brief Description:  Fuselage Construction Begins - Fuselage Bottom

I began fuselage construction this morning. Since I bought the pre-drilled fuselage bottom from Zenith, things moved along pretty quickly. For you scratchbuilders out there, here's why I bought the pre-drilled skin. 1.) The price was less than 1 sheet of .025 from Aircraft Spruce. I'm getting to the point where I don't need a large stock of aluminum any more that I won't use, and the fuselage bottom takes up basically one sheet of 4'x12'. 2.) One of my least favorite tasks in airplane-building is cutting large sheets of metal to very exacting standards. It's worth any difference in price to me to have it done for me. 3.) The pre-drillled holes baby! They're the greatest. TONS less measuring and layout time, and they're perfectly straight and in the right place. I figure the pre-drilled skin saves me at least 4 hours. My scratch-built parts fit perfectly, and everything is spot-on so far. It's really exciting to be working on the fuselage, and I'm motivated to do my best work because of the groundwork I've done making the best parts I can.
