I used my heavier bending brake to bend some .063 parts today. If I were grading it, I'd give it about a 95 - works pretty darn good. I may end up taking a bit more off the top chamfer of the oak radius board so I can go a little past 90 degrees. I ended up having to hammer a little to get some of these to 90. Little tweaks - little love kisses. All things considered, it worked out well. I did have one frustrating moment. The developed length for the large upper firewall stiffener is listed wrong on my plans. The drawing (in the crack of the page) shows a part blank size of 141mm, yet the dl listed is 137mm. Unfortunately I cut mine to the smaller 137mm (actually 136mm by accident), making it a full 5mm off. I'm not taking any chances, so I'm going to order another piece of .063 from Aircraft Spruce and make another piece. Dang it. Lesson: Don't assume that Zenith's developed lengths on the plans are correct. As a matter of fact, using my Larry Winger Bend Line Spreadsheet, I've found most of them to be slightly off - usually 1 or 2 mm larger than required. When I bend parts using the spreadsheet, they're always spot-on. Trust the spreadsheet. This may be splitting hairs, but if you split enough hairs, you end up with a wooly mane.
