Brief Description: Flanging Die Tweak For Cutting Close Flanges
I didn't think about it while I was making the part, but the holes that have to be flanged are pretty close in relation to the flanges on the parts. I trusted that the dies wouldn't be too big, but apparently you're supposed to flange the holes BEFORE you make the bends. My solution was to take a little cut out of the female die. It worked fine - no problem at all. If you're thinking of making your dies out of oak like these, go ahead. I put them on the concrete driveway and pounded away to make the flanges, and there's not so much as one indention in either die. Plus, if mine had been made out of metal, it would have been a lot more difficult to tweak them like this.
