Brief Description: Fuel Tank Leak Test & Wingtip Flange Work
I went to the storage shed and brought out the fuel tank that I finished about a year ago. It's finally time to give it a good home. Since it had been sitting so long, I wanted to do one more check for leaks. It would be much better to discover one now than when it's inside the leading edge of the wing. No problems - tight as a drum. I also work mounting the final wingtip flange for the aluminum portion of the wingtip. My plan is to fit the fiberglass part, then make another plexiglass template for the metal piece. Just for grins I tried my right wing plexiglass template and it was almost an exact match. I was genuinely shocked at how closely two things built months apart with so many variables could come out. There was a very subtle variation in the curve of the top of the wing that would have left about a 2mm gap, so I'm going to make another template for this wing. If it had been 2mm smaller, no problem - just cut the template down. No worries. I have the Plexiglass and it was a cinch to make.
