Brief Description:  Shearing of spar cap blanks (.032)

I made my first REALLY long cuts with the Olfa knife today. I must say, it worked great. You have to be very careful and start your cut using very little downward pressure, but as the cut depth increases with subsequent passes, you can press a little harder. I think I used about 10-12 strokes to score my .032, then broke it over the table edge. I've got four nice, oversize spar cap angle blanks here. I cut them oversize so that the bending process will be easier. I cut them 100mm wide, and will trim them to their proper flange width once they're bent. If you've got sharp eyes, you can pick out the hole in my work table for the drill press to pass through. I built a small table that sits under the bench. The drill press sits on this table, with the support column sticking up through the hole. I remove the head of the drill press, and re-attach it once the column is through the hole. Having the drill press facing the wrong way by having it at the edge of the table just wasn't working. I wasn't able to easily confirm the angle of the drill bit, and I just wanted it to be comfortable. Scratch off another one of the 10,000 little problems you have to solve to scratch build an airplane.
