Brief Description: Reconfigure Shop for Fuselage Work
I'm back in the shop today after my Christmas trip to Texas and Statesville, NC. We had a great time, but I was ready to be home and working again. I put the fuselage on a small rolling trailer I have and moved it out of the garage so I could reconfigure things. I sawed the legs off of my smaller work table so it's now 16" tall. The fuselage is resting on a 4x4 cut the width of the gear channel. After getting the fuselage back in the garage, I moved the 4'x8' table in front of it - leaving a space to walk by to get out the garage door. There's a 3-foot space between the front of the fuselage and the table - plenty of room to work. I drew up this floor plan to scale on TurboCad and moved things around until I had the most room to work - then went out to the garage and put things where I had planned. It worked great. I have the best possible use of space and didn't have to experiment in the real world. It was all done on my computer.
