Brief Description: Female 115mm Flanging Die & Firewall Stiffeners
This afternoon after work I used a band saw to cut out the round oak blanks I'd glued up for my large flanging die. After that I used a 115mm hole saw to cut out the hole. The plans call for a 45-degree angle depth of 8.5mm, so I experimented with my router until I had achieved it and cut the bevel around the hole. I have the round blank cut out for the male part, but it will need to be turned on the lathe. I'll do that tomorrow. After woodworking, I went back to bending metal - knocking out the firewall bottom and side stiffeners. I also received an order from Aircraft Spruce today of 3/4" angle stock for my longerons, and some 4130 tubing and welding rod to see if I can make my own rudder pedals and welded parts. I'll leave the motor mount to the experts, but I may be able to weld almost everything else. They're sending my .063 plate from the west coast. It should be here in a day or two.
