Brief Description: Fiberglass Tip Riveting/Tank Fitting
Basically all I have left on this wing is the fitting of the aluminum wingtip and mounting the tank and securing the skin. I made a little headway on those two fronts today. I got he fiberglass tip riveted in place with a fit that I'm really happy with. Turns out I didn't have enough Plexiglass to make the template for the wingtip, so I'll make an early-morning trip to Home Depot tomorrow for that. I attached adhesive cork strips to the back and sides of the gas tank and fitted it into place. Using the fiberglass template method, I was able to locate where the vent and drain holes should go. Tomorrow I'll flip the wing again and locate the holes for the filler neck and sender door. Maybe I'm overdoing the cork strips, but I'm on my third roll and it looks like I'll have enough, but hardly any left over. I just want the tank to be secure in it's place - no rattling or bumping about.
