Brief Description:  Final Stages of Right Wing

For the last few days I've been finishing up final details of the right wing. Except for installation of the fuel tank, all final riveting is complete. I'm actually a little past the point pictured here. I've cut the holes in the wing skin for the vent, drain, filler, and sender. I ran into a small problem with tank installation. As others who have installed their fuel sender on top of the tanks have noted, the sender sticks up a bit past the level of the skin. Some have made domed covers, and others have ground off the protruding bolt on the sender. At this point, it looks like I'm going to be able to gain enough clearance by grinding off the bolt, removing a lock washer, and using Loctite in its place. I'll also use some sort of non-conductive material on the cover so that the sender doesn't accidentally ground itself on the cover. If all of that doesn't work, I'll probably put a small dome in the cover using Phil Maxon's method of drilling about a 1" hole in a board, and using a broomstick handle to poke a little dome in it. At any rate, this wing is toast. Another hour or two of wrap-up, and onto the stand it goes until final assembly.
