Brief Description:  Compound Curve Top Wingtip Flange

I don't mind telling you that there are some things that I look at on the plans of this project and ask myself "How am I ever going to do that?" This compound curve wingtip flange was one of them. I understand the theory of how it should work, I just didn't know if I could make it happen. Well Brothers and Sisters, I'm here to tell you that it ain't that bad. The top flange you see here took me about an hour and a half, and I was being extremely careful. It's a fairly simple matter to put crimps every 40mm and get the curve you want. I have a good pair of Avery crimping pliers which I'm sure made it go more smoothly that if I hadn't had them, but even with my home-made crimping pliers, I feel reasonably sure I could have gotten the same results. The lesson? Stop frettin' and start bending. It almost always looks more difficult than it is.
