Brief Description:  Wing Skeleton Deburr/Wing Tie-Downs

I'm making forward progress on my right wing still. The initial skeleton goes together so fast that it gives you a false sense of speed in building. I keep having to remind myself to not get frustrated - go slowly and do good work. Today I removed the top and bottom wing skins and disassembled the skeleton for deburring and tweaking. My next step is complete all that needs to be done with the skeleton before moving on to the nose ribs. This includes running wiring conduit, attaching the tie-downs I fabricated today, tweaking the ribs for a good fit, and riveting. I spent a couple of hours tweaking ribs. By that I mean making sure that the flanges are at 90 degrees to the web, and everything is straight and true. I've read that this is one way to remove some of the puckering of the skin during riveting and have good-looking wings. I'll do some shimming as needed, but I'd like to keep that to a minimum. I finally got to Home Depot and picked up a new blade for my band saw, so I made my tie-downs. They turned out pretty good. I'm happy with them. While I was there, picked up three 10-foot sections of PEX water pipe to use as conduit in my wings. Strong, lightweight, cheap, and the perfect length (10 feet). I'm going to fabricate some stand-offs and run the conduit through the lightening hole for my strobe and aileron trim control wiring.
