Brief Description:  Pilot Drilling of Right Top Skin

I really felt like I made some progress today. I managed to trim the top skin to its final size and lay out and drill all of the top skin pilot holes. I always start by drilling #40 pilot holes so that my rivet lines will be more precise and straight. Then I expand them to #30 before final drilling to #20. The most important part of this whle process is getting everything straight, level, and plumb. If you do that correctly, putting the skin in place is almost a no-brainer. I'm amazed at how precisely everything fit together. I guess it's a real testament to the plans, and being so anal and getting every dimension as close as I can get. I think another thing that's allowing me to get such good results is my digital level. Knowing to within a tenth of a degree whether something is level or not is a huge help. I can imagine that I'll have the top skin fully drilled and clecoed by tomorrow afternoon.
