I've always wanted to know how to weld, and since this project requires some welded parts (which I was just planning to buy), I figured I'd start teaching myself the art of gas welding. Gas is supposed to be a good all-purpose way to go for welding steel and aluminum, so I'm reading all I can and burning up lots of scraps in an attempt to teach myself. My skill level may not be good enough to weld my own parts by the time I need them, but I'll give it a shot. I'm sure with some practice time, I can pick it up. I chose the Meco Midget torch because I plan to be welding aluminum and 4130 steel tubing. It's a very precise instrument capable of putting a very small, hot flame right where you need it. I just need more practice.
