The updated drawings for the XL version of the Zodiac arrived today. After checking the plans, I noticed that portions of the elevator I just completed have been beefed-up in the XL. For instance, the elevator horns on the HD are .063 stock. On the XL, they're .090. Also, all around the central elevator channel, rivets that were specified as A4 in the HD are now A5. They've added a binding strap to the rear of the elevator horns as well. No big deal, but it looks like I'll be drilling out some rivets and refabricating some parts to make allowance for these changes. My first impressions of the plans are these: The level of complexity over the HD version has increased quite a bit by adding flaps, different size wing ribs, etc., but the documentation is MUCH better for the XL than before, so these changes shouldn't be an issue. The bottom line is that I'm going to end up with a very nice airplane, and have a blast getting there.
