Brief Description:  Rudder Corrosion Protection

Removed all labels with laquer thinner. Scuffed up aluminum parts with maroon Scotchbrite pads so primer will adhere better. Used a rattle-ball spray can of self-etching primer to paint all rudder skeleton surfaces. I'm going to do the same with the skins. I live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so maximum corrosion protection is necessary. I ordered some Cortec from Zenith, but decided against using it for a couple of reasons. First of all, it dries relatively clear, so there's no really easy way to tell if you've missed a spot. Second, the Cortec surface remains tacky even after it's dry, so it picks up metal shavings and dust and dirt. And third, I just prefer the Olive Drab look of the spray primer. It just looks more finished, and more like an airplane to me.
