Degreased and paint-stripped old Corvair pushrod tubes today. Checked through all to make sure they're not dented or dinged. There is some rust, but a wire brush and some Ospho will take care of that. I'll be painting them with high-temp white paint as outlined by William Wynne.I used a shotgun cleaning kit to run a wire brush through the tubes. They were pretty filthy, as I imagine most old Corvair motors are. After that, I used the shotgun cleaning tool to clean out the oil galleries in the case halves. I'm going to take the case to a shop to have it cleaned in their tank. Maybe that will get the rest of the stuff I can't get off.
