Brief Description:  Tape & Inspection Plates

I did the final ironing on the left stab inspection plate frames. I cut the frame holes out by using a soldering tool and melting the fabric away, leaving an even seam that won't fray. I then started on the right top stringer tape. I quickly found that the compound curve formed from where the fuselage tapers both in and down required a length of bias tape through the curve area. Once that little issue was solved, the rest of the tape application went well. I did discover one little tid bit about the Stewart System. The temp today was in the mid 50's with constant rain, so the relative humidity had to be close to 100%. Under those conditions, the water borne glue takes forever to dry. Makes sense, but it makes for very slow going with tape application.
