Brief Description:  Scooty Rogers Inspection

Scotty Rogers and I got together and looked at my assembly work so far. He came up with a list of things he didn't like and I got started on the fixes needed. One of the items were the four studs that came out of the oil sump and held the carb in place. He thought the studs needed to be replaced with drilled studs to prevent them from backing out. I would remove the old studs and he would order new ones. We all came to find out that Lycoming no longer makes the drilled studs and these were just fine, Problem was, I had already removed three and had a major issue getting the last on e off. Long story short, I had to remove the oil sump from the engine and send it to a machine shop to get the stud out. By the time all this work is done, it will be a lot of work for no gain. Live and learn. I'm waiting on the sump gasket to arrive and I can start putting it back together.
