I finished cleaning both ailerons. The tough part is stripping the paint from the aileron hinge wells. In my case, the wells had paint which had been there since the beginning. While stripping, I saw three different paint colors. After about three or four applications of stripper, the wells seem to be cleaning up nicely. In keeping with the idea of replacing all the hardware on this rebuild, I'm going to replace all the little #4 sheet metal screws and bolts that hold the pieces of the ailerons together. To provide better corrosion protection for the aluminum parts, I plan to wash prime all the aluminum parts.
