After the horizontal stab skin was trimmed for the elevator travel clearance, the rod end bearings were installed and the elevator temporarily mounted.
With the left elevator mounted, it was checked for alignment with horizontal stabilizer and then clamped in place for drilling the Control Horn.
A protective bearing made out of brass tubing of varying diameters was slid into the VA-146 hinge bearing. This allowed us to drill the elevator control horn with a #40 bit without damaging the VA-146 hinge bearing.
The elevator was removed and then carefully drilled to final size.
