Brief Description:  Riveting the rudder.

Before installing the rudder skin, I added a dab of RTV inside the trailing edge of the rudder skin at the end of each stiffener. Then slid the rudder skin over the understructure and clecoed together.

Started riveting the skin to the understructure with a hand squeezer. The instructions address the narrow spaces at the aft ends of the ribs an suggest the use of special tools or if desired the us of MK-319-BS blind rivets. These use a 7/64 hole instead of the 3/32 and have a head that fits the same dimple. I used the close quarters dimpling tool from Cleveland tools and made use of the blind rivets. Much easier.

Remember to add the R-716 rudder bottom attach strips when riveting the the skin to the R-704 bottom rib. Also make sure you have drilled and dimpled the skin and the R-713 counterbalance skin on the very top to 1/8 to accept the R-809 fiberglass tip as this will utilize CS4-4 blind rivets later. The instructions don't seem to address this and you have to get it from the plans. Its easy to overlook this step and rivet the skin on and then its to late to dimple for a flush blind rivet.
