Brief Description: Trailing edge bender, riveting the stiffeners.
I built a training edge bender slightly different than the one shown in the plans book. I used 1"X12"X48" pine shelving board from the Home Depot. I hinged the two boards with 21/2" door hinges. I wanted my bender to be heavy to easily compress the trailing edge of the rudder so I screwed on two quarter sheets of 3/4" plywood. It worked very well. Next I started riveting the rudder stiffeners to the ruddder skin. To get the rivet gun to the most aft rivet holes, the skin has to be streched open to almost 90*.
