Brief Description: Fabricating the second avionics shelf.
Today I need to build a second avionics shelf to support the Garmin GEA-24 and the GAD-27 behind the instrument panel. I took measurements and planned the orientation of the components to determine the best size for the shelf. Then measured and cut some .032 sheet to size and located my bend line on the aluminum and formed a 90 degree bend. With the shelf temporarily installed I clamped the GEA-24 and the GAD-27 to the shelf to find the best orientation and mark the mounting holes for drilling. The GAD-27 will be mounted on the underside of the shelf.
