Brief Description: Fabricate avionics shelf for Transponder, GAD-29
My avionics set up will use a remotley mounted GTX-45 Transponder. To mount this I need to build a shelf behind the instrument panel to support it and also the GAD-29. I found a piece of .032 aluminum that was about 12 inches square. By making a bend approx. 8 inches from the forward edge I can mount it to the forwad Z bar and to the gear tower cross brace, also a Z bar. The transponder has a rack case but no mounting bracket so these will need to be fabricatedl I measured and cut and bent up some .025 aluminum for the brackets. I match drilled the mounting holes to the transponders protective case.
